Double Time Calculator
Break gross pay into regular, 1.5x overtime, and 2x double-time tiers in one calculation.
How the calculation works
Some states and union contracts split extra hours into two tiers instead of one: 1.5x overtime up to a threshold (often 12 hours in a day, or the first several hours past 40 in a week), then 2x double time beyond that. This calculator totals gross pay across all three tiers at once. If your situation only has a single flat overtime multiplier, use the Overtime Calculator instead.
Formula
Total Pay = (Regular Hours × Rate) + (Overtime Hours × Rate × 1.5) + (Double-Time Hours × Rate × 2).
Examples
40 regular + 8 OT + 4 double-time at $25/hr
$1,500.00 total pay ($1,000 regular + $300 OT + $200 double-time)
8 regular + 4 double-time at $30/hr (single long shift)
$480.00 total pay ($240 regular + $240 double-time)
