Sales Tax Calculator
Add sales tax to a price, or back out the pre-tax price from a tax-included total.
How the calculation works
To add tax to a price, multiply by 1 plus the tax rate as a decimal. To go the other way, work backward from a receipt total that already includes tax, divide by 1 plus the tax rate to recover the pre-tax price, then the tax amount is the difference between the two.
Formula
Total = Price Before Tax × (1 + Tax Rate ÷ 100). Price Before Tax = Total ÷ (1 + Tax Rate ÷ 100).

$107.00 total ($7.00 tax)
$107.00 total (tax included), 7% sales tax
