Work Hours Calculator
Calculate hours actually worked from clock-in and clock-out times, minus your unpaid breaks, with an optional pay estimate.
How the calculation works
Finds the total time between clocking in and clocking out (wrapping past midnight automatically for overnight shifts), then subtracts your unpaid breaks to get actual hours worked, the same math behind a physical or digital time clock. Paid breaks shouldn't be entered since they don't reduce paid hours. Enter an hourly rate and this also estimates your gross pay for the shift, useful for a quick timesheet check without a separate payroll calculator.
Formula
Net Hours Worked = (Clock Out − Clock In) − First Break − Second Break, in minutes, then converted to hours. Estimated Pay = Net Hours × Hourly Rate, if a rate is entered.
Examples
Clock in 9:00 AM, clock out 5:30 PM, 30-minute break
8.00 hours worked
Clock in 8:00 AM, clock out 4:30 PM, 30-minute lunch + 15-minute break, $22/hour
7.75 hours worked, $170.50 estimated pay
